New Year, New Intentions.

Happy New Year Everyone!

It's the start of a new year so its time to look forward about what we want to do in the future. I don't usually bother with new years resolutions, but this year I've decided to make an exception as I think the start of a year can be the motivation I need to do something good for myself.
Running Parachute
I'm not going to be doing any vague or overly ambitious things like try to 'eat healthier' or 'give up chocolate' as these are either too hard to judge or are too difficult and unrealistic. I think a better approach is to set smaller obtainable targets. Anyone will tell you that you can't suddenly just change who you are, which is why those sort of resolutions are always doomed to end in failure.

Instead you need to change yourself in smaller more manageable steps if you want to see any results. As a result of this I'm setting myself 3 goals for this year, which if I work at it I should be able to do fairly easily.

     1. Find some seafood I like.

This is my main resolution this year, anyone who knows me well, will know that I hate fish and except for a bit of cod and haddock I haven't really ate much fish for the past few years because of this. I'm hoping that I can find something I like and I'm hoping in the years that it has been since I have really eaten fish my tastes have changed and I'll find lots I enjoy. Fish and other types of sea food are really high in protein and good fats (omega 3 etc.) so If I can get this into my diet then that is great!
This book is so big it could be used as a weapon
     2. Try 1 new meal a week.
I've been doing this for some time so this isn't really that new of a thing, however I feel that if I stick this in writing then I'm more likely to stick to doing this. This also plays into my first goal of trying to eat more fish so it works well in 2 aspects!

     3. Use what I've been given for Christmas
My family know that I'm into healthy food and exercise (and coffee!!) so I did get a few things that I could use, Including a couple of cooking books and a running parachute (which I'm excited and terrified to use at the same time). Hopefully all of these things will be a good learning experience that can really help me grow! The idea of the running parachute does worry me a bit because I can't help but feel I'd look a bit silly running around with it on, but from what I've read in reviews they are really good fitness aids!

So what did you get over Christmas, have you got any decent new years resolutions? let me know!

Cheers,

Rich
